Liv’s Recipe: Lemon Squares

Lemon squares have been one of my favorite desserts since I was little; I love just about anything lemon flavored! These bars are so easy to make and taste absolutely delicious!

Personally, I think even the lemon haters out there would love these. The lemon flavor isn’t super overpowering, but if you want a little less “zing”, you can leave out the lemon zest.


  • 2 sticks unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 6 eggs, room temperature
  • 3 cups white sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. grated lemon zest
  • I cup lemon juice
  • I cup flour
  • powdered sugar for dusting


Crust: Combine first 4 ingredients in mixer. Press dough into greased 9×13 pan. Chill for at least 20 minutes, then bake for 15-20 minutes or until very lightly browned. You don’t want to overbake!!

Filling: Whisk together the next 5 ingredients and pour over baked crust. Bake for another 30-35 minutes until set.

Dust bars with powdered sugar and let cool before serving.

It’s that simple! You’ll definitely want to give this lemon squares recipe a try. It’s the perfect springtime dessert!
