Liv's Bookshelf,  What I Read this Month

    May 2020 Reads

I read a lot of amazing books this month! Reading seven books in a month is a huge accomplishment for me, so the fact that I enjoyed all of them is a bonus! Have you read any of my May reads? Let me know in the comments what you thought! Another very predictable read, the last Girl Online book was the most disappointing. I didn’t expect it to be the best book I have ever read, but to me it just didn’t have as much depth as the first book. I’m glad I read the series and I love the author, but definitely more of a teen read and something…

    Dynamic Duos Spotify Playlist

In this month’s playlist, I wanted to feature some of my favorite duets. I have been LOVING this Dynamic Duos Spotify playlist! Most of these are pretty upbeat, so I’ve been playing it while I exercise or during my afternoon walk/jog (definitely more walking than jogging…) So whether you’re chilling out on the porch with a whipped coffee or taking a walk, I hope you enjoy and find a new song you’ve never heard before! What is your favorite song from this Spotify playlist? I think mine is I Hope! For more music recommendations, click here or follow me on Spotify. What have you been listening to this month? Share…

The Henna Artist by Alka Joshi Book Review

I probably wouldn’t have picked up this book on my own, so I’m glad it was Reese’s book club pick for May! The Henna Artist revealed a different culture and lifestyle from my own, which was very intriguing. Title: The Henna Artist Author: Alka Joshi My Rating: My Review: Joshi’s writing style is lovely. I felt like I was transported straight to India in the 1950s. I loved all of the characters and their stories, some beautiful, some tragic, and some a blend of both. I really enjoyed reading this book because of how the culture, perspectives, and ideas were so different from my own. Although I couldn’t relate personally…

    My Evening Skincare Routine

My skin has been looking great during quarantine, probably because I haven’t been wearing makeup as often, but I’m also attributing my skincare routine to my happy skin! If you haven’t read my morning skincare routine post yet, definitely check it out! Okay, now to the actual reason I’m writing this post: Pearlessence Tumeric Scrub I found this at my local T.J. Maxx a while ago and it looked interesting so I thought I’d give it a try. I wouldn’t say it’s the best face scrub I’ve ever used, but it does what it’s supposed to. On days when I don’t need the extra exfoliation, I just use my Shea…

While I’m Waiting: What God has taught me during quarantine

It has been a strange and difficult couple of months, to say the least. Where I live, quarantine has been lifted, and businesses are beginning to reopen and function under a new “normal”. My pastor preached a message from 1 Thessalonians 5 this past Sunday, and I was challenged and encouraged so much by it that I had to write a post about it. He titled the message “While We Wait”, and he spoke about what we as Christians should be doing while we wait for the Lord’s return. So you may be still waiting for things to reopen where you are right now, but that doesn’t mean you can’t…
