I probably wouldn’t have picked up this book on my own, so I’m glad it was Reese’s book club pick for May! The Henna Artist revealed a different culture and lifestyle from my own, which was very intriguing.

My Review:

Joshi’s writing style is lovely. I felt like I was transported straight to India in the 1950s. I loved all of the characters and their stories, some beautiful, some tragic, and some a blend of both. I really enjoyed reading this book because of how the culture, perspectives, and ideas were so different from my own. Although I couldn’t relate personally to most of the characters and what they were going through, the story was extremely entertaining and thought-provoking! I’m hoping to read more culturally diverse books in the future.

And that’s it for the latest 2020 Reese’s book club pick! I have really enjoyed reading a lot of books with strong female protagonists, and The Henna Artist was another fantastic addition to that list. Have you read The Henna Artist yet? What did you think?
