For this series of Q&A posts, I thought I’d change it up a bit and make a food-themed edition! I love reading get to know me blog posts so I hope this gives you more insight into who I am! If you’re new here, find out more about me here or check out my other Q&A posts.
What’s your go-to breakfast?
I have a massive sweet tooth in the mornings, so I like granola and yogurt or a fruit smoothie (but let’s be honest most days it’s just a bowl of cereal…) I also really love to bake so it’s not unusual for me have a banana bread or blueberry muffins in the freezer.
What’s your favorite ice cream flavor?
Ice cream is one of my favorite desserts, but it’s almost impossible to pick only one flavor!! Moose tracks was my favorite growing up, and I also loved mint choc chip. Cake batter or choc chip cookie dough are two others that I love…yikes, I can’t decide!!!
What’s your favorite fast food?
Chick-fil-A. No one makes better chicken. Or sweet tea. Or waffle fries.
What would your “last meal” be?
Alfredo pasta, a flatbread marguerita pizza, chips and queso with a side of guac, and cheesecake. I could probably add more to the list, but I am just making myself hungry. I think I need a snack before I finish this post…
What’s your favorite dessert?
My mom’s sugar cookies, any kind of cheesecake, and ice cream!
Do you have a favorite “family recipe”?
This question could be an entire post all by itself! My family loves to cook and tweak recipes, so it’s hard to pick just one! My Dad’s chili is amazing and my Mom’s cooking, in general, is fantastic. Our Thanksgiving spread is probably the best example of family recipes that I can think of. My family’s versions of noodles, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole, stuffing, etc… are just out of this world!
What has been your worst cooking fail?
I actually have never completely ruined a recipe (Probably just jinxed myself) so my “cooking fails” are more mild than some stories I’ve heard! I once made a new “coffee cake” with a crumb topping that was nothing like the recipe described. I had to use two pans because the batter was way too much for just one, the topping was hard as a rock when I took it out of the oven and it was the most bland coffee cake I’ve ever had. I have yet to find a coffee cake recipe that I love. Please give me some good recommendations in the comments!
Do you have a fond memory of cooking growing up?
I would make meatballs and meatloaf with my Mom growing up, mainly because she let me mix and shape the meat with my hands. I thought it was gross but awesome at the same time!
Coffee or tea?
Not sure how this is even a question, but I’m a coffee addict 100%. Growing up, the only time I drank tea was when I was sick or had a sore throat, so now I don’t usually reach for tea!
Do you have a favorite holiday meal?
Thanksgiving for sure. Like I mentioned earlier, my family doesn’t take any shortcuts when it comes to cooking for this holiday. On the other hand, the dessert selection at Christmastime is hard to ignore. We make A LOT of amazing cookies!
Feel free to pick a question or two and answer them in the comments! I would love to get to know you better too! Thanks for reading my food-themed get to know me Q&A!
