    Big Little Lies Book Review

Watching the Big Little Lies TV series is the reason I fell in love with Liane Moriarty’s books. I’ve read several of her books now, but I held off reading this one because I needed some distance from the story after binge-watching the series. I already knew that I would love this book, and it even exceeded my expectations! Title: Big Little Lies Author: Liane Moriarty My Rating: My Review: I absolutely loved that the Big Little Lies book was slightly different than the TV series. Normally, I would want an exact replica, but I really appreciated experiencing this book separately from the series. One of my favorite aspects of…

    August Reads

Somehow I managed to read 5 books this month even though I was in the worst reading slump! My August reads were very diverse, and I’m proud that I went out of my comfort zone again this month. Everything Inside Everything Inside is a collection of short stories that was picked for Reese’s Book Club this month. I wrote a separate post for this book, so you can check it out here! Everything Inside Book Review

Reese’s Book Club pick for August is a collection of short stories, which is definitely out of my comfort zone. So without further ado, here’s my Everything Inside book review! Title: Everything Inside Author: Edwidge Danticat My Rating: Rich with hard-won wisdom and humanity, set in locales from Miami and Port-au-Prince to a small unnamed country in the Caribbean and beyond, Everything Inside is at once wide in scope and intimate, as it explores…

I’m Still Here This was Reese’s Book Club pick for July, and I think everyone should read this book! I wrote an entire blog post on I’m Still Here. Click here to read it! The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires I love all things vampire ( The Vampire Diaries is an all-time fave, and yes, I’m a Twilight nerd…Team Edward all the way), but I haven’t actually read any books about vampires, so I borrowed SBCGSV on a whim. It definitely was not what I was expecting,…

Liv’s Bookshelf: I’m Still Here by Austin Channing Brown

2020 has been a year of personal growth for me in many ways. One large part of that has been reading a lot of books, especially ones out of my “comfort” genres. Being a member of Reese’s Book Club has motivated me to read books that are relevant and necessary. So before I get ahead of myself and start giving my detailed review, here’s a general overview of this book: July’s pick is I’m Still Here by Austin Channing Brown. Title: I’m Still Here: Black Dignity In A World Made For Whiteness Author: Austin Channing Brown My Rating: My Review: The book starts off right away with such power and…
